Writing for income. Blog, book or both?
April, I’ve spent the last couple days reading your blog…you’re a brilliant writer. You should really consider writing a book.
Robbie
Thanks for the compliment. You’d probably be amazed at how long I actually spend with some of these posts too. The writing part usually takes little time as that’s the easy thing. Debating on weather or not to post what I have in mind far more time consuming. This ability would come as a shock to my high school English instructors as they focused so much on diagramming sentences and very little time on writing. And quite frankly I’d not know a possessive pronoun if it bit me on the tush.
As far as books go I think this site, when I actually post to it, is far more productive to the greater society than would be reserving the information only for those who have access to a book or the money to order one.
I’ve done some copy and technical writing in the past but those gigs were found through networking or just plain old luck. Though I have several degrees none of them focused on the right things to make much of a jump into the commercial writing world. I’ve tried applying before and if I get call backs it always for a different position.
Oh, and let’s not even mention that I’m prone to taking on too many projects at once either!

Got so angry with Freewebs I am not renewing. Copying the whole darn site as well as blog posts to a blogger blog. Freewebs spell checker never worked properly and now that I have my own computer and switched to Firefox~which underlines all spelling errors anywhere~I am appalled at my spelling errors. Not typos~errors. How embarrassing!
Only relevant here, because you read some of those posts and as I copy and fix I was thinking about you. Why ever did April not point our the correct spelling of argument for instance (see spelt it wrong again, but can fix it in a moment).(will not let me fix spelt, um…)
Book or blog? The Homeless Guy does okay with Pay Pal donations. Wandering Scribe got a bit of cash when she reluctantly put up the button; she also got that book deal. Self publishing at Lulu or doing an ebook is an option, but work.
I have actually made a little spare change at Associated Content writing articles, so that might be something you can consider.

Hooo, Lordie, don’t I know what you mean about taking on too many projects at once! I’m a writer/vagabond, and I’ve finished a couple manuscripts, but I’m seriously going to have to wait until I can “settle” for a while before I can do anything serious with all the notes and experiences I have.
Lol! I like to overload myself with fantastic ideas like; I’d like to learn to speak 3 languages, Juggle fire clubs, become an oral storyteller, be an herbalist, play 5 instruments at once, talk to squirrels, hike a mountain, write a novel…
And I get so many awesome ideas at once and I’m so excited about them all that I have a brain freeze and in the end settle for a cup of tea and a cigarette, and write in my blog, lol!!!
Btw, I’m glad to see you’re posting again. ^.^ Been watching this site off an on for a while now.
